Persian Nain Medallion
Persian Nain rugs are woven with a curvilinear knot up to 700 knots per square inch. They are very distinctive in design and colour, typically using blues, reds and golds. The wool is cut very short and silk is often used as highlights to pick out the floral edges. These silk highlights tend to dull down over time as the rug gradually becomes soiled with use. The sheen of the silk is fully restores once the rugs are professionally washed. DIY or in house cleaning is not recommended as the dyes, particularly the red, can be fugitive if left wet for too long.
