Afghan Ziegler
Here is an image of an Afghan Ziegler, a rug that was washed for a customer in Camberley. These types of rugs are also known as Peshawar, Chobi, Sultanabad, Arak as well as Ziegler rugs. Chobi means ‘wood’ which refers to the natural vegetable dyes used in these rugs. The colour palette tends to be softer than most Persian and Turkish rugs, therefore complementing decoration in modern homes. Ziegler is the name of the design rather than the area where the rugs were woven. Ziegler was a German company based in the UK in Manchester towards the end of the nineteenth century and designed the rugs with the western market in mind. Ziegler rugs are one of the most common rugs we see for cleaning in our facility.
